The University of the Philippines-Manila is one of the top medical schools in the Philippines. The university offers a range of courses from undergraduate to graduate, as well as postgraduate degrees.
Established in 1905, it is one of the oldest universities in Asia and was originally founded as a medical school. In 2000, it became a state university and has been ranked as one of the best institutions for higher education in Asia by QS World University Rankings, Times Higher Education World University Rankings and THE Education World University Rankings.
It has more than 8,000 undergraduate students and more than 1,000 postgraduate students. It is also home to over 20 research centres and institutes that offer research opportunities for students from all levels.
The University of the Philippines (UP) has kept its position as the top Philippine university in Asia’s Top 100 and is leading the country’s 15 higher educational institutions (HEIs) that made it to the 2022 Quacquarelli Symonds World University Rankings (QS WUR) Asia.
The Philippines’ premier state university system ranked 77th among 687 universities in Asia topped by the National University of Singapore. UP was ranked 69th in Asia in the 2021 QS Asia edition.
