The Commission on Higher Education (CHED ) recognition of a 54-month Doctor of Medicine curriculum for international students

Please be informed that during the 582nd Joint Management Committee and Commission en Banc Meeting held on 30 August 2022, the Commission en Banc, through CEB Resolution No. 439-2022, resolved that upon evaluation of CMO No. 18, Series of 2016, Medical Act of the Philippines and its amendment, with the concurrence of the Management Committee, the Commission resolves to issue the necessary document stating the following:
"This affirms and clarifies that the Commission on Higher Education, pursuant to CHED Memorandum Order (GMO) No. 18, s. of 2016 or the "Policies, Standards, and Guidelines on Medical Education" allows the recognized Higher Education Institutions to offer the Medical Education Program subject to compliance with the minimum standards under GMO 18, s. 2016.
This includes the recognition of a 54-month Doctor of Medicine curriculum.This further affirms that the Doctor of Medicine (MBBS ) degree awarded to international students by these recognized higher education institutions is the same degree offered and awarded to Filipino students as a requirement to take the board examinations and obtain valid license to practice. xxx"
