ECFMG Announces Fee Increases for USMLE Exams and International Test Deliveries Effective January 1, 2023
The Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates (ECFMG) has announced fee increases for certain services and exams effective January 1, 2023.
The fees for the United States Medical Licensing Examination (USMLE) Step 1 and Step 2 Clinical Knowledge (CK) exams will increase to $1,000 for each exam registration. This marks a significant increase from the current fees, which are $820 for Step 1 and $870 for Step 2 CK.
In addition to the exam fee increases, the USMLE Step 1 and Step 2 CK International Test Delivery Surcharge will also increase to $195 and $220, respectively.
These surcharges are applied to exams taken at international testing centers and are in addition to the regular exam fees.
These fee increases will apply to all applications and requests submitted to ECFMG on or after January 1, 2023 (Eastern Time in the United States). All fees are listed in U.S. dollars.
While the fees for most other ECFMG applications and service requests will not be affected by the changes, it is important for individuals planning to take the USMLE exams or requesting international test deliveries to be aware of the increased fees.
Interested individuals can find more information on the updated fees in the ECFMG 2023 Information Booklet and on the Fees page of the ECFMG website.
